Here she is with one of her birthday presents. It was almost as big as she was.
She is walking now and is a number one fan of her cousin Joseph. He thinks she is pretty cool too.

New Kitchen

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo Books

Our youngest son David has transformed our 1970s kitchen by adding new doors and drawers. We decorated and the whole thing cost one tenth of replacing the kitchen.

My dad.

It's 11 years today since my dad died. He was a great man. He loved his pipe and a pint and the photo was taken in his favourite pub.. The Red Lion in Colne. We spent many happy hours there with him and I went with him for his "liquid lunch" in there every Friday for many years whilst we did his shopping together. We still miss him very much.

Filial cross

With all the glorious weather we have taken the opportunity to have a good few walks in the past week or so. Last week we walked up to Coldwell Reservoirs. There is an activity centre there which use to be a pub called the Coldwell Inn. The inn is very old and was a stopping place on the old packhorse route from Colne to Hebden Bridge. This unusual cross was on top so that you could see the cross from any direction.
When the inn fell into disrepair i the cross disappeared and was eventually found in a garden in Nelson. When the Inn was renovated and became the activity centre the cross was placed back in its original place.
A great place to have a brew and a bit of cake or even a meal after walking over the moors.

Grout paint

Grout paint
Originally uploaded by Jaxpix50
We have been decorating our kitchen and decided to paint the tiles too. After painting them then we decided we needed grout paint too. Off to B n Q once more and bought a grout paint pen. Great...nearly finished... last weekend whilst Steve finished off the walls , tiles etc. I opened the grout pen .... IT WAS BLACK!!! ....Who has black grouting?

It didn't say it was black on the pen itself and as you can see it looks like it's white with the white bar across the middle. As it was more than £5 we took it back to the store. On arriving at B n Q we were told we should have known it was black as the pen cap was black. After a great struggle they let us have our £5 back and we bought some white grout paint... identical, except with a white cap .... the manager eventually agreed it was very misleading. ... we went back to B n Q for something else today and they are still on sale ... wonder how many other people will fall for it too.

Usually when I go it's dark but this week as we were having breakfast together the sun rise up over the hill and fell on my grandson's gingery hair. Luckily my camera was in my bag.

Yep still raining .. off and on... but I've just looked at tomorrow's forecast and there is a great big yellow sun there. Fingers crossed here for that.
Washing machine already on .. ready to put the sheets out tomorrow. How sad is that!!!!

I am sure everyone is just bursting for a bit of sun. What a pity it's a work day... some people will not even see it. Luckily I finish at 11.30...so maybe a little fresh air and sunshine for me.

Well the days are definitely getting longer. I usually drive to work and it's pitch black . This morning i suppose partly because the weather was better i noticed pinky clouds at one side of the sky and as I was almost at college the dawn sky was magnificent with the town buildings silhouetted in front of it. It took my breath away for a moment and made me feel maybe Spring is not that far off. This photo from fellow flickrite Bobby8 seems to say it all.

Water water everywhere. The weather continues to be dreadful. Nearby towns are flooded and everywhere the ground is absolutely saturated. This photo is from flickr photographer Borolad and shows Mytholmroyd flooded this afternoon.
Even for those of us on higher ground it's all becoming very weary.... although obviously it's not as bad as for those flooded out.
How we all long for just a little sunshine so we can get the boots on and get out into the countryside.... how long is it to Spring???

House moving

Well we put the house up for sale in november. We sold it immediately as it is a lovely house. however the sale fell through the week before we were due to move. So we spent Christmas sitting on boxes in between showing viewers around. We got a buyer again within a week but we are still allowinig viewers round as it isn't really sold until we exchange contracts (the agent says!).

It is the nicest house we have ever lived in. Lovely views over the garden. We can watch the boats on the canal. We have stained glass and beautiful original fireplaces. The house is on four floors thoguh. We still have a coal fire and the coal is in the cellar... at the moment it's ok but the coal bucket seems to be getting heavier. So time for a move with kids grown up and grandchildren arriving ....

After weeks of endless rain and grey skies we saw just a little blue sky today. It was essential to get out there and walk. It was pretty chilly but refereshing. The roads and fileds are soaked and it made for some interesting photos. Nice to get back inside now with a hot cuppa. My cameraphone is so handy!

Not been around much on the blog. the reason is connnected to this photo. This is the alms houses in Colne and is where my dad spent his last ten years. His wife, my step mother has lived there since my dad died 10 years ago.
In August she had to go into a home because of dementia. Although she has family of her own it was left to our famiiy to pick up the pieces and sort out the house. it has been quite sad but I felt it was the last thing I could do for my dad.
This photo was takne at 7 am on wednesday morning as I waited for the council to come and pick up the last items which we couldn't find a home for . i handed the key back just after this pic.
