Not sure how this year has passed so quickly but there you go.. nearly gone. I'm not a New Year's Eve person at all, in fact it could make me a bit depressed. However I always waken up January 1st excited at the prospect of another year. So... see you next year!!!

As the weather has been gorgeous since Christmas (cold, frosty but very sunny) we have been able to get out and about with the boots on and do a bit of walking. Managed to get this snap of 'the tree' up Towneley park just as it began to snow.. it looked magnificent. If you click on the photo it will take you to a larger version.

Our nephew and his fiancee. They became engaged Christmas morning!! how sweet aren't they. Congratulations and all our best wishes for the future.

Well here we are Boxing Day already! How did that go so quickly? Saw all the kids which is the main thing . Our daughter came down for the morning with her husband and our grandson and we had the grand present opening as well as the placing of Jesus in the crib. Our younger son came home for Christmas dinner (well he had been out all night!) and our elder son and his wife came in the evening.
In between times we were driving back and forth to Colne to get my stepmother up and ready and then back after she had wakened up properly to bring her on for the day , then back home in the evening... so it did feel like a lot of running about inbetween cooking and playing the hostess with the mostest!! Thank goodness for kind husbands who did some of the running round and entertaining my 83 year old stepmother who has altzheimer's.

I decided to put this photo on to mark Christmas Day 2005 as it is, for me, what Christmas should be all about!

Can't believe that this has happened. 37 years today... where did the time go? We're celebrating this afternoon by taking our grandson to a panto in Yorkshire with our oldest son and his a wife and probably a nice quiet meal tonight.
I was a child bride as you can see and I am still quite young!

Well here we are nearly Christmas and fingers crossed it will be a white one. The young woman pictured here is just bursting to see a bit of green to make a change to the glorious white world of the Antartica she lives and works in.
Looking at her photos is amazing and at this time of year reminds me of all the people away from home for Christmas.
My hat goes off to all the young people out there with this 'Antartic Heroine' and hope they have a joyous and wonderful Christmas.. it will certainly be a white one!!!

Weekend in Southport

Just arrived back after a very sunny but bitterly cold weekend in Southport.

The shops were wonderful and I walked for miles round them. We walked on the front for a while but it was so cold I could hardly bear it!!!

Back home now for the last push before Christmas!

Christmas Concert

Just thought you might like to get into the Christmas spirit with us by watching our gorgeous grandson in his Christmas concert. As the video opens he is the little boy at the front of the two dancing on stage. When you look at the children he stands next to you can see what an incredibly tall boy he is. The little boy he stands next is his very good friend and the little dance they do at the end is not part of the show but an invention of their own.
The woman in pink is the wonderful teacher in the language unit which he attends.

Come sail with us!

Just thought you might like to have a look at the MS Renoir which we cruised on for our weekend in Paris. This little video is very experimental as I am using a new system. It was taken by my camcorder rather than my usual digital camera. As a result it's quite big and may take a bit longer to load.. let it stream in and don't worry if it stops briefly it will continue in a second or two!! It is worth the extra bit of time as the quality is much better.. well I think so!
