With all the glorious weather we have taken the opportunity to have a good few walks in the past week or so. Last week we walked up to Coldwell Reservoirs. There is an activity centre there which use to be a pub called the Coldwell Inn. The inn is very old and was a stopping place on the old packhorse route from Colne to Hebden Bridge. This unusual cross was on top so that you could see the cross from any direction.
When the inn fell into disrepair i the cross disappeared and was eventually found in a garden in Nelson. When the Inn was renovated and became the activity centre the cross was placed back in its original place.
A great place to have a brew and a bit of cake or even a meal after walking over the moors.
